While we were in DC
We took a recent trip to Washington, DC and on Day 2 we stopped by the Carving Room to enjoy a lunchtime burger. It is no joke to say that may have been one of our best decisions of the trip. Yes, the burger was that good.
The truth: we didn’t find the Carving Room on our own.
We have to thank Guy Fieri for that. Explanation: we first learned of the Carving Room on Fieri’s TV show ‘Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives’. Fieri did a segment on the restaurant during his DC episode. And are we ever glad that he did. Like a good cocktail, the Carving Room is a balanced mix of influences and styles. They’ll be the first to tell you that they consider it a deli-inspired kitchen & bar. But also like a good cocktail, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
But what about the burger?
Glad you asked. Take a bite of the Carving Room Burger. Served with cheddar, swiss, bacon onion compote, mixed greens and Sriracha Mayo on a brioche bun, it is delicious. One of the very best damned burgers we’ve ever had the pleasure to eat. Perfectly cooked meat with complex flavors and just the right amount of heat. All that without losing the baseline taste that you expect from your burger. Want to try something different? How about taking a bite of the Moroccan Burger Plate, featuring a deconstructed lamb burger? Yep, we ate that too. And it just keeps getting better. Beyond the burgers they’ve got a full selection of outstanding sandwiches, small plates and starters. Add to that a generously stocked bar with some truly outstanding distillations. Seal it with a bartender that can throw down, and you’ve got a recipe for success. And repeat visits. Yeah, we did that too. And we would have done it again if we hadn’t been motoring out of town.
Stop by and take a bite for yourself. You won’t be sorry for going. But you will be if you miss out…
